(Tiny Township, On)- Officers on patrol from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the early hours of November 29, 2014 noted a traffic violation of a Chev travelling north bound on Highway 93 and attempted to stop the vehicle in the Village of Wyebridge.
The vehicle continued on its way and eventually pulled into the driveway of a private home owner. Officers conducted an investigation into the driver’s actions and his condition to drive which resulted in the lone male driver being arrested and transported to Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment for an Intoxilyzer test.
As a result of the investigation, David COTE 21 years of Midland has been charged with the following:
– Driving while ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Care or Control while over 80 mgs contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was later released from custody with a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
He was further charged with:
– Young driver – Blood Alcohol above Zero contrary to section 6 (1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act
He will also face a 90 Day Drivers Licence Suspension under the provisions of the Ministry of Transportation Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days with costs.
Drivers are reminded that “Drinking and Driving is Drinking and Driving” and all Emergency Services personnel urge all drivers to make the right decision before heading out in your vehicles.
